  • Anderson City Council: a little over 1,000 votes cast
  • Shasta Lake City Council: nearly 2,000 votes cast
  • District 5 supervisor: Mike Gallagher leading, a little over 4,000 votes

The Wrap

Miles Davis would have turned 100 this year, and the North State Jazz Orchestra is marking it with "Birth of the Cool" at Sequoia Middle School's McLaughlin Auditorium on Saturday, Nov. 7. The trumpeter took jazz from the bebop era into its modern form, always trying something new. So what for us is a nice Saturday afternoon is cool, indeed.
