237acres set for burning near Igo

That's the area Cal Fire plans to treat off Lower Gas Point Road.

If you're headed out toward , expect smoke. Cal Fire's Shasta-Trinity Unit plans to burn about 237 acres of non-native grasses, brush and dead and downed trees off Lower Gas Point Road, southwest of the Igo Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Cal Fire plans the work from Monday, Nov. 2, through Wednesday, Nov. 4, and KQMS Radio says the burning happens only if conditions are just right.

Cal Fire says the project is designed to improve grazing habitat for livestock and wildlife and enhance watershed conditions. Crews are watching weather and other conditions to keep the fires under control and limit poor air quality.

  • Smoke: visible near the project, and may linger overnight
  • On site: emergency personnel, equipment and aircraft, into the evening
