Redding's open burning season started Nov. 1, and permits are free
The Daily Redding team
If you've got brush to clear, Redding's open burning season began Sunday, Nov. 1, after the city lifted its seasonal burn ban, the Redding Fire Department said. You need a free permit from cityofredding.gov/burnpermit, and only dry vegetation can be burned. Burn barrels aren't allowed.
Before you light anything, check with the Shasta County Air Quality Management District after 9:15 a.m. to confirm it's a permissive burn day. Action News Now says you can call 530-224-8777 for the daily message. How big your pile can be depends on your property size.
Fires can start at 10 a.m. and must be out by 5 p.m.
