If you waited up for Shasta County's results, you weren't alone. Shasta Scout reported that Registrar of Voters blamed the delay on too few staffers to run computer processes at the and also pick up ballot drop boxes, which overflowed several times.

The first preliminary results were posted in a story published at 10:32 p.m., with results as of 10:18 p.m., and cover only ballots cast before Election Day. KRCR said that as of 11:40 p.m. the office hadn't started its ballot counting process, after a system crash and a ballot mix-up. In Redding's City Council race, Russ Wenham led early.
