FINANCE NEWS

  • PG&E announced on Friday that its Match My Payment Program will extend into 2026 (while funds last) to give eligible customers up to $1,000 to pay overdue energy bills. In 2025, the program and the REACH initiative aided over 60,000 customers across regional counties.  Action News Now

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Friday, the California Energy Commission denied the Fountain Wind Project in eastern Shasta County, aligning with previous local rejections. Officials credited longstanding opposition by the Pit River Tribe (and Redding Rancheria) for the decision.  Action News Now
  • Shasta County Health and Human Services Agency has been awarded a $250,000 safe driving grant to fund education campaigns on impaired and distracted driving—targeting teen and young adult safety, as well as pedestrian and seatbelt use. The campaign will run through next September on high school and college campuses and via social media.  KQMS

  • Simpson University announced on Friday that Head Football Coach Shawn Daniel resigned and Trevor Utter, formerly the team’s receivers and tight ends coach, is promoted as his replacement — his formal introduction is scheduled for the new year.  KRCR
