  • The new Redding Public Market will open today & feature local food vendors, artisan shops, and breweries to serve as a hub for community events & local gatherings.  Action News Now
  • North State Giving Tuesday raised $1,454,629 in 14 hours, marking the record-breaking highest donation count and largest average gift in 12 years, according to the Community Foundation of the North State, with over 3,500 donors & 220 nonprofits supporting local programs with matching funds from sponsors.  Action News Now

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Hambro Recycling is set to launch four mobile recycling sites in Redding and Palo Cedro beginning in January so residents can quickly redeem aluminum cans, plastic bottles & glass containers at select Holiday Market and Walmart parking lots with drive-up access and scheduled hours.  Action News Now
  • The first Raising Cane's location in Redding opened Dec. 4 and drew a lively crowd. Redding native Ashley Parker Angel from O-Town made an appearance with a local nonprofit and Shasta High School choir.  Action News Now

EDUCATION NEWS

  • A bipartisan group including Rep. Doug LaMalfa is urging House leaders to reauthorize the Secure Rural Schools program and restore lost payments affecting local counties after fiscal 2023. The Senate passed the bill unanimously, and it would cover funding for 2024 and 2025 and extend support through fiscal year 2026.  Action News Now

  • Redding Fire Department reminds residents to take fire safety measures when decorating, urging them to unplug electric lights when leaving home and to use LEDs (a safer choice). It advises careful ladder use with live trees and safe handling of candles while testing smoke alarms monthly.  KRCR
