- ➤ Redding Public Market hosts its grand opening today at 1551 Market Street with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 3:30 p.m. featuring city officials and live music by Pander Express — Santa Claus will visit the patio tomorrow for photos and donations. Action News Now
- ➤ Northern Valley Catholic Social Service's Adopt a Family program is seeking donors to help 220 families—including 853 children—with holiday needs, as organizations aim to complete Christmas lists by next week. KRCR
- ➤ Tuesday's North State Giving event raised $1,454,629 from 7,850 donations to 219 local nonprofits. The Community Foundation of the North State said the top recipient was Siskiyou Land Trust, which received about $70,000 and fell slightly short of last year's total. KQMS
- ➤ At Haven Humane Society, the Bissell Pet Foundation + covers all adoption fees until Dec. 15 so adopters pay only the license fee while previewing available pets online. KQMS

- ➤ Theresa Caputo, known as the Long Island Medium, will present her live show at the Redding Civic Auditorium on Sunday, Jan. 11. Tickets start at $59 (price subject to change) as the event features an up-close video display for fans to experience her unique approach. Action News Now

- ➤ Scientists discovered a heat-tolerant amoeba called Incendiamoeba cascadensis at Lassen Volcanic National Park, where samples collected from 2023 to 2025 showed it can divide at 63C. Its preprint results remain unreviewed as researchers prepare for further testing. KRCR

- ➤ Traffic control is set on Hilltop Drive from Monday, Dec. 8 through Friday, Dec. 12 while PG&E repairs a gas main between Palisades Avenue & Browning Street daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; crews will pave sidewalks and affected areas and drivers should use alternate routes. Action News Now
- ➤ PG&E announced a webinar that will cover wildfire safety, reliability, and new customer resources — attendees can ask questions and connect with local PG&E leaders including the regional vice president. Action News Now
- ➤ Shasta County Health and Human Services Agency is hosting a forum today at 9 a.m. in the Board of Supervisors Chambers on Court Street to explain SB-43 and the expansion of criteria for involuntary treatment to include severe substance abuse, with county officials detailing the new law before taking questions.
