COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ North State Giving Tuesday launches today at 6 a.m.—the Community Foundation of the North State manages the day of philanthropy with 210 beneficiary organizations in Shasta, Siskiyou, Tehama, Modoc and Trinity counties. The foundation hopes to beat last year’s record of over $1.6 million raised from 6,355 donations to 177 nonprofits. KQMS

- ➤ Start Up Redding, a project of Shasta Economic Development Corporation, invites local entrepreneurs to share their ideas today at a free Pitch Breakfast – mentors and business leaders will offer live feedback and support for future funding opportunities. KQMS
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Beautify Shasta will host its largest volunteer cleanup on December 6 from 8 a.m. to noon along the River Trail near the Sheraton Hotel. Volunteers will target abandoned camps and heavy litter zones in the Bird Sanctuary & the City of Redding will assist with debris removal. Action News Now
- ➤ The EPA and Union Pacific Railroad finished a cleanup along the Sacramento River in Dunsmuir after years of oil damage from historic train tank leaks (the project removed a 1,400-foot wall, 75,000 gallons of oil, and 100,000 tons of contaminated soil). The water quality board will continue to monitor the site. KQMS
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Redding Area Bus Authority received a $2.6 million federal grant to replace older diesel buses with low-emission ones in Shasta County — the funding will also update transit infrastructure and help cut emissions in line with California's statewide push for cleaner transport. Action News Now
- ➤ Shasta County Health and Human Services Agency Director Christy Coleman has now changed her view — she supports the planned behavioral health campus that will be built with $150M in state funds and $50M from Signature Healthcare — and County Supervisor Matt Plummer will host a town hall meeting at Dignity Health Connected Living on Mercy Oaks Drive December 8 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. KQMS
- ➤ Redding engineers have announced that crews will close part of Goodwater Avenue—between Shasta View Drive and Rainbow Lane—to install water services for new businesses. Drivers will see short delays or detours daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Dec. 19, and emergency vehicles will have access. Record Searchlight
