- ➤ Brian Holland, a Navy veteran, celebrated finding a new home on Waldon Street in Redding after the new veterans home opened on Oct. 15 with local groups including Nation’s Finest and Native Daughters of the Golden West attending the ribbon-cutting — a promising step for veteran housing in the community. - ➤ Hoyt Buick launched Deuce Scooped six months ago in Shasta County to help disabled and busy pet owners with pet waste removal using safe disposal methods—service plans start at $25 weekly—and sanitizes equipment to prevent disease spread. KRCR
- ➤ Raising Cane's will open its first restaurant in Redding on December 4 at 1470 Friendly Rd and will host a grand opening with giveaways, a DJ, and a visit by local celebrity Ashley Parker Angel along with a donation to Haven Humane Society. The new restaurant will offer free Cane’s for a year to 20 drawn customers + the first 100 dine-in guests will receive a branded hat and a free Box Combo Card, and it will operate from 9 a.m. to 2 a.m. Sunday through Wednesday and until 3:30 a.m. Thursday to Saturday. - ➤ Jennifer Johnston was named the new CEO for the Redding Tourism Marketing Group and UpStateCA, starting December 1, to lead both groups’ marketing and strategic plans. - ➤ Jennifer Johnston, a native of Redding with over 15 years in hospitality, has been named CEO of Choose Redding Lodging and UpStateCA to boost tourism in the region. - ➤ Redding Garden of Lights is asking local residents to vote for its spot in USA TODAY’s 10Best Holiday Lights Displays Awards—supporters can vote once per day per device until December 1. The winners will be announced on December 10. Action News Now

- ➤ The USGS has classified Mount Shasta and Lassen Peak as California’s top high-threat volcanoes—more than a century has passed since their last eruptions and tremors, inflation, and rising steam mark potential future activity.
