  • One SAFE Place in Redding is adjusting its client intake process due to flood damage as it shifts walk-in crisis services to a 24/7 hotline starting November 24 until early January 2026. Shelter care, legal advocacy, and crisis support will still be available with virtual or phone-based intakes—ensuring survivors receive uninterrupted help.  Action News Now

EDUCATION NEWS

  • More than a thousand high school freshmen will attend the 12th annual 'Planting Seeds of Opportunity' STEM Career Day at the Shasta District Fairgrounds in Anderson this Friday to learn about careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics—local business and college representatives will explain job options.  KQMS

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Shasta County Supervisor Matt Plummer partnered with WM and local groups to begin cleanup at Lakeshore Villa RV Park in Lakehead — addressing long-standing issues of safety and environmental concerns. The effort, which uses three roll-off bins from WM, is expected to reduce illegal dumping and lower crime — as new ownership works to revitalize the site.  Action News Now
  • A 105-year-old house on Waldon Street in Redding was restored to serve as permanent housing for homeless veterans. The City of Redding, the Redding Housing Authority, and Nations Finest partnered on the project, and a ribbon cutting is set for Thursday.  KQMS
