COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Redding Area Bus Authority will host a drive-through donation event on November 14th from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at several locations to support local veterans by providing free bus passes + every $100 donated will be matched 50% to deliver $150 worth of passes.  Action News Now
  • The Redding Peace Officers' Association is bringing back its annual Operation Blue Santa to collect toys for families in need. The event will be held on November 15 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at City Hall so that donated toys can be distributed in time for Christmas.  Action News Now

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Redding Children’s Business Fair will take place on November 22nd at Acton Academy (2960 Hartnell Ave), where children ages 6 to 18 will run their booths and learn business skills by selling crafts, baked treats, and more. Thirty booths are signed up with room for 20 additional participants as organizers seek extra sponsors and plan to award cash prizes for categories like best pitch and most original business.  KRCR

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A PG&E gas main repair will cause road closures on Airport Road between Fig Tree Lane and Meadow View Drive and on Lockheed Drive between Thunderbird Drive and Meadow View Drive starting Sunday, November 9 and lasting until December 19—work will occur nightly from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday through Thursday with emergency vehicles allowed access.  KRCR
  • The Cal Fire Tehama-Glenn Unit and Tehama County Fire Department have 80 volunteers and are accepting new applications from residents who pass background checks and fitness tests to help fight fires and respond to emergencies. Volunteer firefighters will support local fire operations by providing extra water in fire incidents and handling medical calls — ensuring community safety.  KRCR

  • Action News Now's Hayley Watts interviewed environmental scientist Louis Giller of North Spore on Wellness Wednesday — he explained how eating mushrooms helped boost the immune system and improve sleep.  Action News Now

  • Two high school athletes were honored as Shasta Family YMCA Athlete of the Week for the week of Oct. 27 to Nov. 2. Anderson senior Alias Raby recorded six catches for 226 yards and three touchdowns in the Cubs' 64 to 18 win on Oct. 31 while Foothill senior Daelynn Callegari posted 11 kills, 8 aces, 16 digs and one block in the Cougars' 3 to 1 win on Oct. 28 (she will face Pleasant Valley on Nov. 8 in a rematch).  Record Searchlight
