- ➤ Renovators are fixing the Shasta Historical Society building on Market Street after a water heater burst flooded it two years ago; workers are placing a beam to lift old trusses and updating the drywall, wiring, and HVAC (with a re-opening party planned for over 700 members by year’s end). KRCR
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Apartment listing prices in Redding increased 4% since last September to a median of $1,450, a Zumper analysis showed — one-bedroom rents rose 1% and two-bedroom rents increased 7% while local prices remain much lower than state and national levels. Record Searchlight
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ In early September, the Pit River Tribe regained 270 acres along Fall River after the Western Rivers Conservancy purchased Pope Jensen Ranch to preserve an area of historic and cultural value. The tribe will start restoring 135 acres of wetlands—planting native species and removing invasive ones—to protect local wildlife and support traditional practices. Record Searchlight

- ➤ Dignity Health Connected Living in Shasta County reported they prepared for a surge in food bank visits after four weeks of the government shutdown — many residents, including federal workers, missed SNAP benefits. The Salvation Army local branch, which served about 300 people weekly, ran low on supplies — prompting urgent calls for donations. KRCR
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The True North Behavioral Health Campus proposal will move forward today despite Shasta County Board opposition as Signature Healthcare & Arch Collaborative plan to submit their proposal for a $150 million state investment and $50 million from Signature to create 200 jobs and expand mental health services. The project, which includes 72 beds and 32 chairs, aims to provide crisis care and treatment for those in need. KRCR
REAL ESTATE NEWS
- ➤ Data from Realtor.com shows that in September the median home listing price in Shasta County dropped to $422,250, a 1.6% decline from August and 3.4% lower than last September, with homes measuring about 1,770 square feet listed at roughly $251 per square foot. In the Redding metro area, the median listing fell to $422,000 — these figures cover only single-family homes, condos, and townhomes. Record Searchlight

- ➤ Redding-area high school football teams will play Week 10 games this Halloween weekend, with matchups on Friday, Oct. 31 and Saturday, Nov. 1.
