BUSINESS NEWS

  • Chipotle Mexican Grill entered a judgment and will pay $246,000 after counties alleged it violated California gift card law by not letting customers cash out balances under $10—forcing the chain to launch a website for refunds. The settlement includes civil penalties, investigative costs and restitution.  Record Searchlight

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Inspire School of Arts & Sciences students will present a music concert this fall. Tickets are $15 for general admission, $12 for students and alumni, and $10 for Inspire students and children 13 and under—available online, at the Inspire Office, or by calling.  Action News Now

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Pit River Tribe received a large tract of land in the Fall River Valley that includes three miles of Fall River after Western Rivers Conservancy and State Fish and Wildlife purchased the 270-acre Pope Jenson Ranch last month. The tribe will restore 135 acres of freshwater wetlands — a key spot for migratory birds and other wildlife.  KQMS
  • Shasta County supervisors rejected the state grant for the True North Behavioral Health Campus Friday after a three to two vote ended the project following nearly a year of planning by local non-profits and Signature Health.  KRCR
  • Redding drivers must slow due to road construction on Lake Boulevard near the I-5 exit as lanes close and free right turns are blocked through early November. The right lane is closed through Oct. 27th for temporary railing installation—while the southbound ramp will close from Nov. 1st through Nov. 5th for foundation work.  Record Searchlight

SPORTS NEWS

  • Foothill lost to Pleasant Valley 38-28 on October 24 after holding a 21-14 lead at halftime—Vikings running back Titus Andrus scored three touchdowns in the second half to swing the game. Coach Ross Griffith said the Cougars did not finish strong and will face Chico on October 31 to decide the No. 2 playoff seed.  Record Searchlight
  • Two big touchdowns are battling for Play of the Week in Week Nine of Under the Lights and fans will decide the winner. Voting opens at 11:45 p.m. Friday (closing at 11:59 p.m. Tuesday).  Action News Now
