- ➤ On October 18, the Cascade Theatre hosted Dancing with the Shasta Stars 2025 which raised over $184,000 for One SAFE Place to support survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and trafficking. Local community leaders danced to music from the 1920s to the 2000s, setting new records for attendance and fundraising. Action News Now
- ➤ Hundreds of community members gathered outside City Hall in Redding on Oct. 18th, 2025 for the second 'No Kings' protest, part of similar protests occurring nationwide. KRCR
- ➤ On Oct. 18th, 2025, 501 golden retrievers and their owners gathered at the Redding Civic Auditorium for NorCal Golden Palooza, where the event featured free play, training sessions + a costume contest, and prizes + a silent auction that benefited the NorCal Golden Retriever Rescue nonprofit. ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Margaret 'Dede' Davis, a paramedic injured when the Redding-based REACH helicopter crashed on Highway 50 on October 6th while returning from a patient drop-off in Sacramento, was discharged from the hospital and began inpatient rehabilitation (pilot Chad Millward remains in intensive care but is stable) (flight nurse Suzie Smith died). - ➤ A debris burn escaped a property owner on Sunday in the Cloverdale area as Cal Fire, Happy Valley Fire and other agencies responded at about 12:30 p.m. on Pebblewood Drive—the fire was contained to 6.3 acres. KQMS

- ➤ Three days after ballots were mailed, 73-year-old Bob Braz led a protest outside Redding City Hall against Proposition 50, arguing Gov. Newsom’s redistricting plan and its $350 million spend hurt local voters—Kim Mathews and Renee Ashe also voted no because they felt the measure unfairly gave Southern Californians power over rural areas.
