COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Redding kids joined the Young Eagles aviation event on September 21—learning about flight and aircraft basics from local pilots.  Action News Now
  • Redding community leader Lou Gerard passed away on August 23rd at age 95 after a lifetime of service in education, business, and local volunteer roles. A funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on October 18 (All Saints’ Episcopal Church) with a celebration to follow (Redding Elks Lodge).  A News Cafe

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Shasta County Superior Court in Redding and other California courts will close on Friday, Sept 26 in observance of Native American Day—a holiday long celebrated by tribal communities. In Sacramento, a state Capitol event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. will offer cultural songs, dances, artisan booths, and educational exhibits.  Record Searchlight
  • Redding Regional Airport has set temporary parking changes today as crews prepare for a runway rehabilitation project that starts tomorrow and runs until October 20 — adjustments affect public parking, rental car pick-ups, and employee parking. Drivers in the alternate public lot will be charged a parking ticket on return and rental car services have been moved to an unpaved lot directly north of the original area.  Action News Now
