- ➤ Jared Caylor will serve as the new Superintendent of Schools for Tehama County starting October 6 and will hold the position until the end of 2026—when an election will determine his successor. - ➤ Caltrans crews removed trash, litter, and debris from under the Oregon Gulch overcrossing on Highway 273 in South Redding on September 19th — they finished the cleanup yesterday. Action News Now
- ➤ Redding Public Works Director Michael Webb said the city roads are barely in fair condition after recent projects on Hartnell Avenue and Old Oregon Trail but risk falling to poor without extra funding—if the city does not receive an additional eight to 10 million dollars a year over the next 10 years, many roads could need full reconstruction. - ➤ At a Sept 16 meeting, City of Shasta Lake council approved a new rule letting them remove public speakers if their comments are deemed boisterous, profane or slanderous (a city attorney said the rule is not meant to silence dissent). - ➤ The Shasta County Elections Office holds an open house today from 10AM to 2PM to show renovations including the removal of a wall and a new lounge area—providing citizens a direct view of the election process. Action News Now
