On September 18th, 2025, offenders with the Shasta County Alternative Custody Program and Redding Police removed over 35,000 pounds of trash from homeless camps around town—bringing the year’s total to 430,000 pounds.

CAL FIRE crews responded to a commercial structure fire on the 16000 block of Clear Creek Road southwest of Redding on Thursday afternoon (three units were fully involved) and contained the flames by 2:22 p.m. (no injuries were reported) as the fire impacted about 5,000 feet of the building causing major damage while crews remained at the scene for mop-up and overhaul operations.

A candlelight vigil for Charlie Kirk was held yesterday from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the South Parking Lot at Shasta College on Old Oregon Trail—following his fatal shooting last week at Utah Valley University.
