  • The Manton community is preparing for its 33rd annual apple festival, which will take place on Oct.4 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.—the event will feature over 100 local vendors, a vintage apple press, and hundreds of homemade apple pies while funds raised will support local groups like 4-H and youth scholarships.  KRCR
  • Over 100 people gathered Wednesday night at Redding City Hall to hold a candlelight vigil to remember conservative commentator Charlie Kirk—who was shot while speaking at a university campus in Utah—and authorities have not yet found the shooter.  KQMS
  • Communities in Northern California marked the 24th anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks with events held across the region—Redding’s Enterprise Lions Club held a sunrise ceremony at the large American flag on North Bechelli Lane while Chico, Red Bluff, and Paradise hosted memorials to honor those lost.  Action News Now
  • Local residents are aiding Army veteran Jonathon Mann in the search for his three-year-old corgi Sage, who ran off from his apartment on Sept. 4 near Aqua Golf on Park Marina Drive—flyers have been posted and a $700 reward is offered for tips leading to her recovery.   • The Shasta County 2024 Crop and Livestock Report showed that total agriculture production reached over $89 Million but fell nearly 4% from last year—mainly because hay value dropped 6.3% and nursery stock fell nearly 59% due to lower strawberry plant production.  KQMS

  • The Watch Duty team uses cameras and verified sources to check wildfire risks and update the public quickly. They work 24/7 with almost 300 volunteers to confirm signals and share essential safety information — their process saves crucial seconds.  KRCR

  • PG&E Corporation Foundation and the California Fire Foundation awarded wildfire safety grants for $91,200 to eight North Valley groups to buy personal protective gear, specialized equipment and fund fire education — measures that will help local fire departments improve their readiness.  Action News Now
