CRIME NEWS

  • Redding police arrested 63-year-old Glen Stevenson (charged with murder with enhancement using a crossbow) on Monday after an argument on Radio Lane left a 46-year-old man fatally injured, and the district attorney’s office is now investigating the case.  Action News Now
  • Tyler McCain’s preliminary hearing began yesterday as witnesses testified on evidence linking him to alleged domestic violence and suspicious behavior surrounding his wife Nikki’s disappearance—one witness noted threats and odd vehicle sightings. The hearing will resume Tuesday, September 9.  KRCR
  • Redding man Glen Stevenson, 63, was charged with murder after allegedly using a crossbow in a Labor Day attack on Radio Lane that fatally wounded 46-year-old Salvador Rabago—his arraignment was set for September 11 at 1:30 p.m. in department 44.  KRCR

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Road crews will repave Hartnell Avenue — a $1.6 million project contracted to J.F. Shea — and the intersection of Hartnell and Alta Mesa Drive will be fully closed from Sunday evening until 6 O’clock next Wednesday morning, with work scheduled to continue through mid-November.  KQMS
  • Redding City Council and county officials finalized a joint lease for a 90-acre tract at 7251 Eastside Road to serve as an alternative custody facility where nonviolent offenders can perform community service and learn trade skills instead of doing jail time. Officials declared the land surplus—making its use permanent—but the project still awaits final approval and funding.  ShastaScout
