ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Firefighters in the Shasta-Trinity National Forest are fighting multiple small wildfires sparked by lightning from last week's storms. They are using ground & air resources as several fires are contained and officials warn new fires may start. Action News Now
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Redding City Council will meet in closed session on Sept. 2 to plan for selecting a new city manager as Barry Tippin will retire at the end of the year — council members have held multiple meetings since June to address concerns over leadership — and further reviews of city finances are expected in upcoming sessions. - ➤ Redding police clarified that anyone parking an RV or trailer on a public street must follow the same rules for all vehicles—parking no longer than 72 hours in a spot. They said if an RV stays beyond that limit, officers will warn the owner or tow the vehicle, with towing fees usually between $265 and $330. Record Searchlight
