ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On Aug 29, Tehama County firefighters responded to a barn fire near Gerber that spread to a mobile home and nearby vegetation and contained the blaze covering half an acre.  Action News Now

CRIME NEWS

  • A Redding parolee — Andrew Nilsen, who had two felony warrants — was captured by the Neighborhood Police Unit after leading high speed pursuits on Tuesday and Wednesday. Officers tracked him through town until he was stopped with spike strips and surrendered.  KQMS
  • Redding Police searched Brandon Foreman's residence on August 29th and found evidence of fentanyl trafficking+ including several hundred thousand dollars, fentanyl, a loaded pistol, ammunition, packaging material, and digital scales.  Action News Now
  • Tyler McCain appeared Friday in Shasta County Superior Court for his trial readiness conference and pleaded not guilty to murdering his wife Nikki Saelee-McCain in Shasta County’s first no-body homicide case—his preliminary hearing is set for Sept. 4 at 9 a.m. in Department 63 while he faces additional charges including domestic violence and unlawful firearm possession as he remains in jail without bail.  A News Cafe
  • Redding police arrested 27-year-old Anthony Cloyd and 28-year-old Cassi Rayner on Thursday after a traffic stop on Interstate 5 near Knighton Road when officers found one ounce of fentanyl—Rayner tried to destroy extra fentanyl during transport—and a later home search uncovered three firearms, live ammunition, and evidence of drug sales, leading to multiple felony charges.  KRCR

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Traffic control will affect Buenaventura Boulevard from September 3 to 10 in Redding as contractors drill core samples between Sunflower Drive and Haleakala Avenue from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. — motorists are advised to use caution while emergency vehicles retain access.  Action News Now
  • Churn Creek Road from Presidio Street to Merchant Street will have traffic control from Sept. 3 to Sept. 19 for telecommunication conduit installation and asphalt concrete repair, with work taking place at night from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.—the City of Redding advises motorists to drive carefully while allowing emergency vehicles access.  KRCR
