- ➤ The Lake Redding Regatta is this weekend at Lake Redding Park from 5PM to 9PM Saturday and 8:30AM to 3PM Sunday, and it features live music, vendors, and a pancake breakfast hosted by the Asphalt Cowboys—adding a special touch to the event. Paddler registration has been extended until Noon on Saturday while Fall River Brewing Company pours a limited edition beer brewed in honor of the regatta. KQMS
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A solo climber was rescued on Aug 10 from Avalanche Gulch on Mount Shasta after losing control while glissading nearly 13,000 feet when his ice axe fell and he tumbled several hundred feet—rescue teams hoisted him by helicopter to Mercy Medical Center for treatment. KRCR
- ➤ On August 12th, an 8-inch water main burst on Old Alturas Road near FoodMaxx in Redding and city crews worked overnight to repair the damaged pipe — the roadway remains closed for paving and cleanup as residents reported discolored water that is safe to drink. KRCR

- ➤ On Tuesday, Shasta County’s Registrar of Voters, Clint Curtiss, did not secure a Board vote on his nearly $2.6M budget request to lease and renovate the old Joann Fabrics Building on Dana Drive for the Elections Department—he said the funds were needed for manual and transparent voting. He was appointed amid a contentious selection process and will face former Assistant Clerk Joanna Francescut next year for the job. KQMS
