- ➤ On August 6th, the Shasta County Probation Department’s Grow Program hosted a pop up event at a Juvenile Rehabilitation Facility in Redding where children sold produce they cultivated, including peaches, plums, tomatoes, and herbs+ the event helped them learn to complete projects and handle donations. ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Dibble Creek Volunteer Fire Department responded to a rollover crash on Lake California Drive outside Lake California when a white pickup truck rolled over and ignited flames that spread to nearby vegetation—officials are monitoring the situation. Action News Now

- ➤ Longtime Damburger owners Julie Malik and Nell Cox are selling the beloved burger stand on Placer Street for $1.2 million and will train the new owner to maintain its tradition plus keep most of the staff. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A high-speed chase involving a stolen car reached 130 mph and ended at a gas station on Cypress Avenue at 8:35 p.m. Wednesday — both suspects were caught after their vehicle hit a spike strip and they fled on foot following a collision with a sheriff’s cruiser. Action News Now
- ➤ A possible pipe bomb was found Wednesday morning in Weaverville near Mill Street and Trinity County Sheriff’s Deputies secured the area—alerting the Shasta County Bomb Squad which later rendered the device safe—. KQMS
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Forest Service said there are five lesser-known trails in Shasta-Trinity National Forest to give Redding hikers and bikers extra space away from crowded paths this summer. Some trails offer easy family hikes while others challenge mountain bikers — all are reachable by car from Redding. Record Searchlight
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The City of Redding announced that maintenance on a utility manhole will occur on Churn Creek Road from August 11 to August 13, with southbound traffic between Camino Court and Harpole Road affected from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Motorists should drive with caution — emergency vehicles will continue to have access during these hours. - ➤ A judge ruled that the thirty year impact fee agreement made in July 2023 between Shasta County and Redding Rancheria is illegal because county staff failed to notify key departments and county counsel did not review the deal—local officials had recommended rejecting it since it was meant to pay for public safety costs for a planned casino complex near Interstate 5. A status conference will be held on Friday as the tribe waits to see if the county appeals the ruling. KQMS
