  • Redding’s Turtle Bay hosted a community event on July 27 that featured fresh produce and local vendor displays — offering residents a chance to enjoy seasonal foods and connect with neighbors.  Action News Now

BUSINESS NEWS

  • A tentative agreement reached between UFCW 8-Golden State, UFCW Locals 5 and 648 and Albertsons Companies has averted a strike that threatened 25,000 workers at Safeway and Vons stores—promising wage increases, better health care, improved pensions, and stronger job protections after five months of intense negotiations. Union leaders said details on the ratification process will be shared with workers in the coming days.  KRCR

CRIME NEWS

  • Redding police arrested Jason Wiebusch—48-year-old parolee wanted for assault with a deadly weapon—after he stabbed a man just before 9 p.m. Sunday on Auditorium Drive near the Civic Auditorium and later found him near Lake Redding Park, booking him into Shasta County Jail while the victim received treatment for a non-life-threatening neck wound.  Action News Now

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Firefighters have contained 79% of the Green Fire that started July 1 and burned 19,022 acres as they used helicopters along Rip Gut Ridge to remove equipment and address hot spots. Crews are working along Brock Mountain Road and near Sunaharas Creek—13 new fires from lightning strikes are being fought while pilots near Redding airport are advised under a Temporary Flight Restriction.  Action News Now
