CRIME NEWS

  • Shasta County mother Jamie Graham is appealing for public help to answer questions about her daughter, Baby Ember, who disappeared in July 2015—she spoke with Action News Now to share her plea.  Action News Now
  • Family members are asking for help after 52-year-old George Mieger went missing over a week ago in Millville when he was last seen on a bridge on Old 44 Drive—local drone and pilot efforts have turned up no new clues while the sheriff’s office has issued only an alert.  KRCR

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • CAL FIRE urged residents to use its official website for fire updates instead of social media because it provides verified data from incident commanders on fire acreage, containment, and evacuation orders — the site is updated as aerial mapping refines early estimates and now includes an AI chat box for questions.  KRCR
  • Firefighters made gains containing the Green Fire burning northeast of Redding in the Shasta-Trinity National Forest as the blaze scorched 19,022 acres by Monday morning—evacuation orders remain in effect and five firefighters were injured fighting this and another wildfire. Cooler weather is expected to slow the fire’s spread further.  Record Searchlight
  • On Friday afternoon, three Forest Service firefighters were injured in a tree strike on the Butler Fire near Redding and were transported for treatment while the fire grew to over 16,500 acres with 6% containment and spot fires near Sawyers Bar Road in the Six Rivers National Forest — large areas remain under evacuation orders.  KQMS
  • Crews reported that the Green Fire, now over 19,000 acres, is 51% contained as nearly 1,900 personnel have dropped 2.5 million gallons of water. They cleared wide breaks ahead of the advancing blaze—gusty winds forecast in the coming days may test the fire lines further.  KQMS
