- ➤ Haven Humane Society has launched a pet photo contest for its North State Pet Calendar fundraiser starting today—pet owners can submit photos for a $5 entry fee and every dollar donated counts as one vote until August 20 at 8 p.m.; the top 13 entries will receive a mini photo session with Mike Riot Photography and the contest winner will be featured on the calendar cover. - ➤ Sheriff Michael Johnson released a statement condemning hate crimes after charges were filed against an Igo man and said bias crimes strike at the heart of our community—urging any victim or witness to contact law enforcement. KQMS
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Firefighters battled the Green Fire in Shasta-Trinity National Forest yesterday as the blaze grew to 13,366 acres with only 5% containment. Cooler temperatures helped crews put out a 50-acre spot fire near the Sulanharas arm of Shasta Lake + evacuation orders remain in place for several nearby zones. Record Searchlight
