- ➤ CAL FIRE battled the Rush Fire near Lewiston as it burned 20 acres and was 5% contained while evacuation warnings remained for Zones LEW-176, LEW-177, LEW-178 and LEW-179. Action News Now
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Trader Joe’s has recalled Face Rock Creamery’s Vampire Slayer Cheese Curds with use-by code 082925 after tests found they may be contaminated with listeria, a bacteria that can cause fever, headache and seizures. The curds were sold in Northern California, the Central Valley and Central Coast, and in Northern Nevada—Carson City, Reno and Sparks. Record Searchlight
- ➤ Shasta County supervisors voted in late May to have consultant Chriss Street continue his work on a proposal for a new medical school to address local doctor shortages, with the project requiring an initial investment of 40-60 million and taking over a dozen years before new providers appear.
