- ➤ Redding’s Neighborhood Police Unit served a warrant Thursday at a house on Woodview Drive where officers found 2 Ounces of cocaine and uncovered an indoor cannabis operation with over 600 plants and 66 Pounds of processed bud in individual 1-Pound bags—police have identified suspects and are pursuing leads. - ➤ The Redding Police Department is asking local residents for any information about a cannabis seizure on Woodview Dr. that occurred on June 19. Action News Now
- ➤ The California Highway Patrol has issued a Silver Alert for Marvin Smith, a 73-year-old man last seen on Monday morning near Happy Valley Road and Hawthorne Avenue in Happy Valley—officials said he is believed to have been traveling on foot and were notified of his disappearance on Wednesday. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Residents near Cottonwood evacuated with trailers carrying animals as the Rancho Fire burned 157 acres and was 20% contained by Thursday evening—evacuation orders have been reduced to warnings that may let residents return when conditions improve. Action News Now

- ➤ PG&E announced that public safety power shutoffs could begin tomorrow in western Shasta County to prevent wildfires — a measure used since 2019 after severe fires in 2018. Residents are advised to prepare with battery-operated radios, power banks and generators, and Redding Electric Utility reported that it will notify customers if any shutdowns occur. Action News Now
- ➤ PG&E and Redding Electric Utility said they had planned public safety power shutoffs in parts of western Shasta County beginning Thursday because of fire danger — Action News Now reporter Jesse Angelo reported the measure during interviews. Action News Now
- ➤ Today marks the 80th anniversary of the Shasta Dam's completion+ an event starts at 11 a.m. at the Shasta Dam Visitors Center and will be followed by an open house and tours of the dam and power plant. KQMS
