CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Anderson police arrested Cy Johnson (41), a convicted felon wanted on a warrant for possession of an incendiary device, after a 10 p.m. call on Saturday led officers to find him in a parked vehicle on the 2600 block of Balls Ferry Rd with two loaded firearms, including a modified shotgun. - ➤ On June 13, police in Anderson conducted a fire suppression sweep that inspected six hazardous sites including 13 homeless camps and arrested six individuals for trespassing and drug-related charges—officers said the suspects had been previously offered community services for housing and addiction issues. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ CAL FIRE will resume the Gore Ranch prescribed burn today near Westwood Village to clear 50 acres of non-native grasses — reducing fire hazards and protecting the watershed. Emergency crews will work in the area through tonight and tomorrow, and the burn covers more than 1500 acres of protected woodlands and pastures. Action News Now

- ➤ Shasta County Health Officer James Mu declared a public health crisis on June 11 due to a long-standing doctor shortage that leaves patients waiting up to a year for care—county officials are surveying residents until June 20 and may soon consider a local medical school to help replace retiring physicians.
