ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A fire that started Friday, June 13 off Clement Court in Happy Valley is burning about 20 acres and has forced immediate evacuations in zones HAP-7800, HAP-7930 and HAP-7940 with an additional warning for zone HAP-7960—road closures remain in effect to ensure safe fire response.  ShastaScout

CRIME NEWS

  • Two early morning fires in Shasta Lake City were suspected to be set intentionally, with one burning 5.6 acres near Pine Grove off Tibbits Road before 3 a.m. and another burning less than an acre near Smith Avenue before 5 a.m.—Sheriff’s Deputies spoke with a person of interest while the Shasta Arson Task Force seeks tips.  KQMS

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Redding Regional Airport received a ($24,393,884) grant from the FAA to repair its runway and improve safety. Congressman Doug LaMalfa said the funds will support work (resurfacing, LED lighting and new airfield signage) that keeps the airport a key hub for travel and aerial firefighting.  Action News Now
  • Officials from the Anderson Fire Department+ Anderson Police Department+ and the Shasta County Sheriff's Office reminded residents on June 12 that all fireworks including sparklers are illegal in the county due to high fire risk, and violators face a $250 fine+ up to five days in jail as the Fourth of July approaches.  KRCR

HEALTH NEWS

  • Shasta County residents are being asked to complete the Access to Health Care Providers Survey to share challenges in finding local care and many have already reported misdiagnoses due to a shortage of doctors — officials plan to use the feedback to improve access as the County Board of Supervisors considers the public health crisis on June 17. Respondents have noted difficulties in accessing primary, emergency, and specialty care, highlighting the need for more local practitioners.  Action News Now
