- ➤ Shasta County deputies arrested 41-year-old Zachary Paeyeneers on Thursday at 3:18 p.m. after a 100-mile per hour pursuit on Highway 299E through a construction zone — he was wanted on felony domestic violence and robbery charges and later surrendered after hiding near a creek. Action News Now
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Cal Fire began a 350-acre prescribed burn at Gore Ranch on Friday and will continue today as shifting winds move smoke around the area. Cal Fire plans further burns next Tuesday at the east end of Gore Ranch, on June 11 at the county landfill, and on Thursday at Lower Gas Point Ranch—residents should expect significant smoke through mid next week. - ➤ Redding’s Tawny Cowell—Nutrition Services Director for Shasta Union High School District and board president of the Shasta Roller Hockey League—led Team USA to win gold at the Women’s Masters Inline Hockey World Cup in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, where her strong defense limited opponents to one goal per game. She raised nearly $2,000 to help fund the trip and said local community support made a lasting impact. Record Searchlight
