ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A 34-year-old man riding an electric scooter died after a pickup truck collided with him at the intersection of Gas Point Road and Park Drive in Cottonwood Saturday night at 10 p.m.—the CHP said the truck driver pulled over and called 911 after the collision. Record Searchlight
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A 44-year-old Redding man, Adam Patrick Terry, was sentenced to 8 years in state prison for felony assault & vandalism after he strangled the victim and threw a wrench through the back window of her vehicle. KQMS
- ➤ A CHP officer stopped a northbound car on Interstate 5 in the Lakehead area on Friday when a K9 unit alerted officers to drugs, leading to the discovery of 52 pounds of methamphetamine and 25 pounds of fentanyl and the booking of driver—Angel Gabriel Martinez-Yanez and passenger Luz Isela Barragan-Romero into Shasta County Jail with bail set at one million dollars each. - ➤ Christopher Jordan Witcher, a 31-year-old accused in a knife attack at a downtown transitional housing facility that killed Donna Kathleen Ceremony and injured three others, was found fit to stand trial—he is held without bail and will appear in court on Wednesday for future scheduling. KQMS
- ➤ A man riding an electric scooter was killed when he was struck by a pickup truck in Cottonwood Saturday night — the truck, driven by 61-year-old Robert Close on Gas Point Road at the Park Drive intersection, continued into the scene — and paramedics could not revive the rider. KQMS

- ➤ The Shasta Equal Justice Coalition sent an open letter to the City Council after the Redding Police Department gave its annual report on military-grade equipment as required by AB 481. The group asked that police post quarterly online reports with details on equipment use and suspect data — a change they believe will improve public oversight. ShastaScout
- ➤ On June 2, the Redding Fire Department conducted a ride-along that showed extra engines and plans to call on off-duty personnel as fire season intensifies—Fire Captain Cody Buick said crews remain ready to respond to rising wildland and structure fires while also handling medical emergencies.
