- ➤ On Saturday, hundreds attended the Paradise Grazing Goat Festival at the Terry Ashe Recreation Center to learn fire prevention techniques amid growing fire risk. The National Weather Service issued a Red Flag Warning today for strong north to northeast winds and low humidity—conditions that may cause fires to spread quickly. Action News Now
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A 34-year-old Cottonwood man died after his electric scooter collided with a westbound Ford pickup at the intersection of Gas Point Road and Park Drive on May 31—emergency crews tried to revive him as the CHP launched an investigation. KRCR
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Tehama County land near Red Bluff, Corning, and Antelope is sinking because too much water is pumped out and drought has dried the ground, a problem that can damage buildings and reduce water storage if left unaddressed. The county will hold a public meeting on Tuesday, June 3 to discuss solutions—experts say Redding is safe since its groundwater is refreshed by the ACID Canal. Record Searchlight
