- ➤ Jer-Bear was named Pet of the Week by Action News Now (a feature celebrating local animals) and brings a heartwarming focus to pets in our community today. Action News Now
- ➤ Shasta County law enforcement agencies joined the torch run in Redding, carrying the banner from the Best Buy parking lot on Hilltop Drive to the Ross parking lot — a tradition that leads to the Special Olympics starting June 26 at Santa Clara University with over 1,000 athletes and coaches. - ➤ A housing facility called Parkview Haven is coming to Redding to serve homeless youth, veterans and people with mental health challenges with 14 units built 50% faster than conventional methods. Stored in Anderson — the units will be moved to a site across from City Hall in June or July. Action News Now
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Shasta County Office of Education announced a free summer meals program for kids to be held at several schools (and community sites) from early June through late July. Meals will be served Monday-Friday with some no-meal dates, so families should check site schedules for details. Action News Now

- ➤ Redding customers who purchased grapevines or citrus at Costco since April 21 must place the plants in two garbage bags and contact the Agriculture Department for guidance after officials found the pest Glassy-Winged Sharpshooter, which can spread Pierce’s Disease. KQMS

- ➤ California Attorney General Rob Bonta sued 23andMe on May 28 in San Francisco Superior Court over a five-month data breach in 2023 that affected about 856,000 Californians.
