  • Mayor Mike Littau and his family are continuing a six-year tradition by planting American flags along a neighborhood during Memorial Day weekend to promote unity, and he urges residents to display flags until July 12 for the nation’s 250th birthday celebration.  Action News Now
  • Empower Tehama announced Kimberlee Monroe as its new executive director after serving as interim director and director of client services. Her appointment continues the nonprofit's work to expand victim services and local community support across Tehama County.  KRCR

  • Northern California casinos have lined up pop concerts, comedy shows and blues brunches from May 25 through June 7.   • Firefighters fully controlled and extinguished the Sisters Fire in the Trinity Alps on National Forest land today using air and ground tactics in steep terrain. Forest officials remind visitors to recreate responsibly over Memorial Day weekend in dry conditions.  Action News Now
  • Several parks in national forests around Redding are closed for summer safety reasons—Gateway Trails in Shasta-Trinity remain closed until year’s end, and Lake Shasta roads and bridges are off limits, though some closures will lift May 3 and 16.  Record Searchlight
