- ➤ On Monday, May 18 the Stuff the Bus food drive gathered nearly 12,000 pounds of food in Redding and Chico. The Salvation Army reported 10,977 pounds in Redding and 982 pounds in Chico — support that will boost local food pantries. KRCR
- ➤ North Valley Community Food Bank will open a new redistribution center on May 27 from 10 a.m. to noon in Corning — including a ribbon-cutting at 10:30 a.m. at 4928 N. Marguerite Ave. to expand food support for partner agencies. KRCR

- ➤ Firefighters contained a one-acre fire sparked by mowing equipment near North Cottonwood School on Monday around 9:13 a.m. — crews from CAL FIRE, Shasta County Fire, Anderson Fire Department, and Cottonwood Fire Protection District responded and later reminded residents to keep extra safety tools on red flag days. - ➤ Caltrans District 2 announced Monday that one-way traffic control on Highway 299 near Buckhorn Summit will remain for about three weeks to allow emergency slide repair work.
