- ➤ The Asphalt Cowboys’ annual mock robbery contest began Tuesday in Redding as part of Redding Rodeo week, with clues posted online and up to $500 available for finding the loot or identifying the masked outlaws—contest rules state that prizes decrease each day if no one wins before the contest ends at 5 p.m. Friday and the outlaws will join the Rodeo Parade on Saturday. - ➤ College students crowded Lake Shasta for Mother's Day weekend, where 11 medical calls led to 6 hospitalizations and 2 locals were arrested for boating under the influence—houseboats collided on Slaughtwerhouse Island as deputies will expect large Memorial Day crowds. KQMS

- ➤ The new Shasta County Courthouse closed Monday and will remain closed this week after flooding late Friday night damaged the Court Clerks Office and records—trials have been postponed and jurors are told to stay home while officials investigate the cause. KQMS

- ➤ At an April protest outside City Hall in Redding, lung cancer survivor Cori Casebeer said federal cuts to cancer research funding have endangered her access to treatment, with support dropping from $25 million to zero.
