A driver was arrested after pointing a rifle at a California Highway Patrol officer during a May 6th traffic stop just north of Redding on I-5—he drove away, was chased by officers, and stopped near Vigil Court—with no injuries reported.

The Redding City Council approved a 25 year lease on May 7 that allowed the Rodeo Association to make improvements to the rodeo grounds.

The lease includes an option for two 10 year extensions (potentially extending the term to 45 years).

Cal Fire Shasta-Trinity Unit expert Jas Shaw told KRCR that as wildfire season nears, homeowners in Shasta County must create defensible space—mowing grass to 4 inches, trimming trees to 6 feet, and clearing gutters to reduce fire risk.
