- ➤ Twelve Northstate food banks received nearly 40,000 pounds of food on Tuesday, May 5 at Mercy Oaks Dignity Health in Redding from America’s 250 event—organized by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints—to help local families in need. KRCR

- ➤ Shasta College Theatre Department holds auditions on Aug. 24 and 25 at 6:00 p.m. at its theatre and will perform Arcadia from Oct. 9 to Oct. 18 with a special high school morning show on Oct. 16 (contact Jessica Nieves for details). A News Cafe
- ➤ The Sundial Film Festival Movie Club is set to hold its first meeting tomorrow in downtown Redding, featuring a screening of the classic Rear Window. Doors open at 6PM at the IOOF Hall on Butte Street (Market) with tickets at $10 or $15 for monthly membership. KQMS

- ➤ New federal data show that while small businesses are growing nationwide, Shasta County experienced a net loss of 26 businesses in 2023 as private jobs rose by 5%. This week is Small Business Week, and experts remind locals to shop local. KRCR

- ➤ Shasta County Health and Human Services Agency announced a free online tool that lets residents create Psychiatric Advance Directives today if they face a mental health crisis. - ➤ Healthy Shasta invites North State residents to join the month-long Shasta Bike Month and Challenge on Redding trails. Registration is open and participants can log rides (using the Love to Ride platform) individually or with teams to compete for prizes. Record Searchlight
- ➤ Korean War veteran John Schaefer, 98, was honored Tuesday, May 5 at Sundial Assisted Living in Redding by Bristol Hospice’s We Honor Veterans program, which recognized his service, Purple Heart, + also seeks volunteers to help educate hospice staff. KRCR
