ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Two motorcyclists were injured when their bikes crashed on the interchange between Highway 44 East and Interstate 5 Southbound at 12:50 p.m. today—California Highway Patrol closed the ramp and tow trucks removed the damaged bikes. KRCR
- ➤ A fire broke out Saturday evening near Shasta Park Road in Shasta Lake and burned 2.5 acres; two California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection helicopters dropped water over the blaze. Record Searchlight
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Wildland firefighters completed the prescribed fire phase of the McBride Vegetation Project near Mount Shasta last Thursday. Biking and hiking on the Gateway Trails will be delayed until the area cools down — other trails remain open. Action News Now
- ➤ The ETA Aquarids meteor shower will peak between May 5 and May 6 as Earth passes through Halley’s Comet debris — skies in Redding and other north state areas may show up to 50 meteors per hour if clouds stay away.
