- ➤ The Shasta County Sheriff's Office hosted an annual luncheon this week in Redding to honor hundreds of volunteers from search and rescue + the Citizens Volunteer Patrol. Special recognitions went to longtime contributor Robert Zaech and Volunteer of the Year Reynaldo Gutierrez. Action News Now
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Twelve North State high school seniors were named Scholar-Athlete finalists after 36 applications were judged on academics, sports, and community service by Record Searchlight, Rotary Club + Seamans Family Foundation. They will be honored at a luncheon on Thursday, May 7 and winners will receive scholarships. Record Searchlight
- ➤ Redding high school senior Kaitlyn Raftery won the Congressional Art Competition for the district. Her painting (The Fight for Freedom) on the theme America, a 250 Year Celebration of Liberty will be displayed at the U.S. Capitol and she will visit Washington D.C. to view the exhibit. KQMS

- ➤ Drivers in Redding will face delays on Forest Hills Drive from May 4 to May 10 as crews finish a water main project (serving 27 homes) and restrict one lane on Forest Hills and parts of Wimbledon Drive; traffic control and flaggers will direct vehicles during work hours. Action News Now
