ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A car plunged into the Trinity River near Big Flat at about 1:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 1, leaving a nine-month-old baby missing while the 21-year-old driver and 19-year-old passenger sustained injuries; CHP said no alcohol or drugs were involved and the search is underway. KRCR
- ➤ Local pilots and friends at Benton Airpark in Redding recalled respected aviator Del Schulte, who was killed in a deadly plane crash southwest of Cottonwood earlier this week—his loss has left a deep impact on the local flying community. Action News Now
- ➤ During the Garrett Fire near Garrett Road and the South Fork Trinity River in Hyampom this past Wednesday afternoon, crews found a dead person as firefighters contained the 6-acre blaze and officials have not determined if the fatality is linked to the fire (cause remains unknown). KQMS

- ➤ Redding native Sherri Papini will share her account in the new docuseries 'Sherri Papini: Caught in the Lie' as she discusses the faked abduction that led to her 2016 conviction and prison sentence. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ California teachers earned the highest average salary in the nation during the 2023-24 school year, making $101,084—a 6% increase from last year—according to the National Education Association. Their starting salaries were strong at $58,409 compared to the national $46,526+ a sign of ongoing efforts to attract and retain educators amid shortages. Record Searchlight
