GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Shasta County Board of Supervisors approved the rezoning of Hawes Farms, which now allows a year-round expansion of its amusement park rides and attractions—subject to a 45-foot ride height limit, no overnight camping, and noise monitors ensuring decibels remain below 55 beyond its property.  KQMS
  • Shasta County Supervisors have named five finalists for the county clerk/registrar of voters position, with interviews set for April 30. The board will appoint a new clerk by May 13 after Tom Toller's retirement on April 29 (the new clerk will serve the remainder of his term ending next year).  Action News Now
  • At its meeting, the board approved rezoning for Hawes Farms and a new Maverick gas station while sending Frontier Energy’s report back to staff to seek grants for a zero-emission vehicle fleet and opposing state bills that would shift wildfire costs to local taxpayers.
