  • Hundreds of classic cars are set to arrive in Redding this weekend when Kool April Nites begins tomorrow as local shops like Sal's Automotive & Sims Hot Rods prepare vehicles for the event. The show will feature drag strip runs, a cruise & show n' shines and will end on April 27 with the Circle of Champions awards at the Civic Auditorium.  KRCR
  • At the California Veterans Home in Redding, two WWII veterans were honored—Thomas Regan turned 100 on April 14 while Juliette Camilli will turn 100 on May 1.  Action News Now

CRIME NEWS

  • The Sheriff’s Office offers a $1000 reward for tips on 33-year-old Jacob Lee Mieger who is wanted for multiple incidents in the past few months—he is 6-foot-1, 175 pounds with blonde hair and brown eyes and is known to frequent the Lakehead area.  KQMS
  • 43-year-old Curtis Morales from Hurleton was arraigned on April 16th in Butte County Superior Court—facing felony counts of murder and possession after he shot and killed his ex-girlfriend on his property east of Oroville.  Action News Now

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • California travelers over 18 must upgrade to a REAL ID or another TSA-approved form of identification by May 7 for domestic flights or access to federal facilities. Check your driver’s license for the bear — star mark to verify compliance, as travelers without a compliant ID will face delays and extra screening at airports.  Record Searchlight
  • On March 27th, during week 2 of RPD’s Citizen Academy, Sergeant Brian Berg and two officers taught how police use contact, detainment, and arrest by following state-approved training methods — showing that people are free to walk away unless there is clear suspicion of a crime. They explained that clear rules help officers safely de-escalate encounters and gather evidence to stop crime.  ShastaScout
