- ➤ The Anderson Library will host free storytime events for families this April at its Anderson branch, starting with an Easter Bunny meet on April 2 and continuing weekly with yoga, a farm petting zoo, a ballet preview plus a Cinco de Mayo story. Record Searchlight
- ➤ The Burney Regional Community Fund awarded $35,000 in grants to seven local organizations focused on safety, health and quality of life today. The funds will support projects in Burney and nearby areas. Record Searchlight
- ➤ Shasta Lake City has opened a new ADA compliant playground at Clair Engle Park — built on a safe rubberized surface — with a zip line, climbing rock, swings and slides. The state grant funded the project, which offers accessible play for disabled children. KQMS
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Premier Oil Change and the Redding Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday morning (10:00 to 10:30 a.m.) at the new Cypress Avenue service center at 905 E. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Students prepared meals at The Bistro on Wednesday, March 25 as part of Shasta College's culinary program, training them for industrial cooking roles in hospitals, retirement homes and schools. Instructor Leslie Hyatt said the program is designed to fill local culinary job gaps. KRCR
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Caltrans crews continue emergency repairs on the Buckhorn Summit slide area along State Route 299 today. They have added safety barriers and are using stabilization fabric over base-rock to rebuild the embankment after encountering higher-than-expected moisture in the slope material. KRCR
- ➤ Home care workers represented by SEIU 2015 filed an unfair labor practice charge against the county after supervisors withdrew a 40-cent wage increase in December + the union declared a labor impasse and will seek state mediation as talks stalled. ShastaScout
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ A new measles case was reported today in Shasta County—raising the outbreak total to 10—and involving a partially vaccinated child. Health officials are tracing contacts and monitoring unvaccinated exposures as the patient is past the eight-day contagious period. ShastaScout

- ➤ West Valley High School athletes Derek Rulon and Cady Gippner were named the Shasta Family YMCA Athletes of the Week for their achievements in track and field and softball during March 16–22 — nominations for future local athletes remain open via sports reporter Brett Abrams. Record Searchlight
