COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The new Parkview Haven housing complex will break ground today at the corner of Parkview and Leland avenues. The $4.85 million project will offer seven studio and seven one-bedroom units for people experiencing homelessness and is set to finish by November.  Record Searchlight

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Mellow Yellow Cafe, a business run by a Redding family near Westwood Village Shopping Center, is set to open this Thursday and will offer coffee, lemonade, fresh baked goods, and drive thru (a key feature of their setup). The owners overcame flood damage and equipment challenges to fulfill their dream.  Action News Now

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Shasta Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation Center will hold an Open House Baby Shower for Orphaned Wildlife on April 4 at its center. The event will let locals meet animals like ambassador kestrel Stitch and support the center with needed donations as rising heat drives more injured wildlife to get help.  KRCR
  • The U.S. Forest Service is starting burns near McCloud today to remove excess vegetation and protect communities, and will work on two projects covering 77 and 419 acres; areas near Highway 89 and Snowman’s summit may close until Thursday, Mar. 26 (weather permitting).   • Construction continues on a mixed-use development at the corner of Shasta and Market downtown, promising new options for local living and business.  Record Searchlight
  • February's median home listing in Shasta County was $420,975, down slightly from January's $424,950, with homes averaging 64 days on market. In the Redding metro area, prices dipped to $420,000, where typical listings featured about 1,781 sqft at $251 per sqft.  Record Searchlight
