  • Today, the 40th annual NorCal Boat, Sport & RV Show kicks off in Anderson at the Shasta District Fair & Event Center and will feature over 100 RVs and boats as well as live animal presentations (Wild Eagle Encounter and Parakeet Paradise Experience) and contests running until March 1.  KRCR

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Former West Valley football coach Greg Grandell sent a letter urging reconsideration after the Anderson board unanimously voted on Feb. 11 not to rehire him; supporters voiced hopes during a packed Anderson High School Library meeting while the district now searches for a new head coach.  Action News Now

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • A groundbreaking partnership in Red Bluff is testing new salmon pens designed to guide over 500,000 juvenile salmon home along the Sacramento River. Officials say the program will help the fish thrive as it unfolds.  Action News Now
  • A landslide closed Crystal Creek Road above the falls at Whiskeytown National Recreation Area, blocking access to Whiskeytown Falls. Crews were working to clear the road by Thursday night while the .4-mile easy hike remains open for visitors.  Record Searchlight

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The U.S. Forest Service is asking for public input on off-highway vehicle recreation funds to support motorized trail maintenance in Klamath National Forest — plans that will shape the final grant application due in June. Public comments open Mar. 3 and are due May 4.  Record Searchlight
  • Redding Police reported that community work program officers collected over 86,000 pounds of trash from illegal homeless camp cleanups in less than two months this year (data confirmed on Feb. 26).  Action News Now

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Shasta County Health and Human Services Agency launched an online story map to tackle high suicide rates by sharing local data and free trainings available through the You Matter Shasta website. Sydney Stinger said the resource aims to reduce stigma and help community members spot warning signs.  Action News Now

  • Enterprise boys basketball beat Foothill 56-51 in the NSCIF semifinals on Feb. 25, 2026, with top plays spurring the win.  Record Searchlight
