ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Snow from last night's winter storm has piled up in communities north of Redding, and a wind advisory remains until 10 PM PST today. Gusty winds may knock down unsecured objects and cause minor power outages, so residents should use caution when driving.  Action News Now

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Starting March 1, RABA will merge its door-to-door services to let veterans, seniors, and disabled riders travel without zone restrictions in Shasta County, with rides offered Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for $4 per ride.  KRCR
  • The U.S. Forest Service is inviting public comment on grant proposals to fund law enforcement and wildlife protection in Shasta-Trinity — Six Rivers national forests, with input accepted until May 4.  Record Searchlight
  • Redding Electric Utility plans a 4.5% rate increase over four years to upgrade aging infrastructure and meet clean energy rules if approved by the city council on March 3; a Feb. 26 workshop (12 p.m. and 5 p.m.) will explain its impact on customers.  ShastaScout
