- ➤ Redding's food truck hub, The Park, reopens Friday, Feb. 27 at 5:00 p.m. at 1552 Placer St. and will operate seven days a week in March, April and May with free live concerts each week + offers a new option for on-the-go dining and entertainment. KRCR
- ➤ Terri and Gary Orwig volunteer in Big Bend to support food giveaways and local gardening programs by working with Dignity Health Connected Living and other community groups. They hope more residents join the effort to keep the community strong. ShastaScout
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Mt. Shasta's ski park reopened with fresh snow today, boosting local shops. A wind advisory is in effect until 10 PM PST Thursday in the Sacramento Valley & residents are urged to secure loose items. Action News Now
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Tribal casinos across the region will host concerts and comedy shows over the next two weeks including Overtime Live DVJ at Win-River Resort and Casino in Redding every Friday and Saturday night from 9:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. Guests need a River Club Card with valid ID to enter free. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Wildland crews will begin prescribed burns today at the Shasta-Trinity National Forest, clearing 50 acres near Trinity Lake and up to 60 acres at Holiday Harbor at Lake Shasta until Friday if the weather permits. KQMS
- ➤ The U.S. Forest Service completed an early February snow survey today at the Klamath National Forest in the Scott River sub-basin, finding snowpack and water equivalent at about 30% of normal, which may affect water for farming + hydropower. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Caltrans warns that I-5 might close if the winter storm makes roads too dangerous, with chain controls beginning from Edgewood to Dunsmuir today. Officials advise drivers to stay home until conditions improve. KRCR
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ The Northern Section boys basketball playoffs are underway as local teams such as Redding Christian in Division VI and Central Valley in Division IV earn their postseason spots. Some contests begin today at 5:30 p.m., while Division III games are set for Feb. 19–20. Record Searchlight
- ➤ Redding Sports Park is set for a big comeback in March after months of uncertainty. The city invested $408,000 in repairs, remodelling Black Sheep Restaurant and adding a laser tag system along with volleyball tournaments & over 70 hockey games while addressing parking challenges. KRCR
- ➤ The high school girls basketball playoffs are underway in the Northern Section, with local teams like Foothill and Enterprise leading Division III. Games are set for today and the coming days + brackets span Divisions III to VII. Record Searchlight
