- ➤ The new Steadfast Sword Club offers historic fencing and longsword training in Redding free to join but with an initial equipment cost + founder Blayke Curts, with 15 years of martial arts experience, teaches on his property and will expand classes by renting space soon. KRCR

- ➤ Melissa Morris from Cypress Elementary has been named Shasta County School Counselor of the Year by the Shasta County Office of Education. Her programs like the Kindness Club and sensory room cut behavior incidents by 13.9%. KRCR

- ➤ A winter storm will bring rain to Redding and Lake Shasta and snow to Mt. Shasta Ski Park over Presidents Day, with light drizzle starting Saturday night. Drivers should expect icy roads on Interstate 5 north of town – the National Weather Service advises caution. Record Searchlight

- ➤ Shasta County public health officials say 8 measles cases have been contained — including 7 close contacts linked to the initial case — amid 17 statewide; they advise residents to verify their vaccination records for proper protection. KQMS
- ➤ Redding residents should verify measles vaccination as Shasta County reports a rise in cases with eight of 17 confirmed, all linked to one exposure; local health officials advise checking immunization records (or consulting a doctor if symptoms such as rash, high fever, cough, and runny nose appear) to stay protected. - ➤ A new report from the California Health Care Foundation shows that Shasta and Lassen Counties face health care shortages due to fewer physicians and higher death rates.
